Found a pigeon today

I found a pigeon in my driveway today. It's pretty friendly. I put it in a cage with food and water. It ate and is resting now. The leg band reads: AU 2010 AA 45973
From what I've found its from a club in Louisiana. I am in western Wisconsin. What do I do? Let it go?

Here it is, is it an American Show Racer? I know nothing about pigeons!

I Would Not Let It Go . It Is Lost Or Was Sold And Escaped And Now Is Lost Hang On To It And See Maybe You Get A Reply From The Club Member Who Was Sold That Band . Thiis Is A Holiday So It Might Take A Few Days For A Reply.

I won't let it go. We'll keep it here until the owner claims it. It's lucky I found it and not the neighbor kids!

It's a racing pigeon and is probably lost or taking a break from a race. It is old bird race season and most races are held on Saturdays. Contact the club and they should have the person's information so you can call them and tell'em you have their bird. Don't let it go yet. Wait until you get advice from the owner.

Should I be feeding it anything special? I've been giving it a mix of wheat, sunflowers, corn, millet and Milo.
