Found a plastic bin at Target...great for a nestbox

You can also just buy cheap bins and cut a hole out....You can get bins that are about the same size as the one at Target with a lid for about $4 and cut out the hold on the side. Then you can still lift the lid. Just a thought.

We just happened to have had about twenty of them from moving and we are using a few of them. The girls fight over them. Who gets to sit today?

I saw them at Big Lots the other day... maybe you can try there if you don't have Target near you. They had both the single & double sizes.

I had that old Booda cat litter box earlier this year and it was a joke! As many fussy hens I've got, two would get in and the lid would move and pop off from the bottom tray. After a week of doing that, I tossed it in the garbage.

The snap on lids sounds like the thing to have for hens that likes to wall themselves to death inside of the container. The only thing BAD about it, it would give them opporunity to perch on it.

BTW, Target was out of those bins. UGH!

Do you have to have a lid? I am assuming the boxes are inside the coop...

Also, you don't have ot scrape to remove labels. You can spray tehm with some W/D 40 ,Pam cooking spray, any cooking oil & even lighter fluid & they will wipe off after a minute or 2.

I've built and open coop/run, for the hot weather here in Texas. Half of it is roofed, but there are no walls. I was thinking the chickens would prefer the box with the lid on, for darkness and privacy.

If I hadn't used Goo-Off on those labels, I'd still be scraping. It was some kind of industrial adhesive they used.

:DWe just use storage totes, the type with lids, that you store clothes, toys etc in. We flip them upside down so the lid is on the bottom and cut a hole out of the side. My girls love it and usually there is a line waiting to get in them. LOL

I have one of those boxes for my little coop. We made a frame for it to slide down into. I do have to hose off the lid everyday...but I like it a lot better than the wooden boxes in the big coop.

BTW, we bought ours at Lowe's.

)
