Found a snake in the skimmer - what species?* PIC POST 1 *

Lol i live north of you in Tuscaloosa, and that is def a kingsnake. I personally have 8 different breeds of snakes and can tell you that the chances of him making it in an aquarium is slim to none. But if u just want to watch him for a while snakes can go weeks even months without eating so a week or so wont hurt. The only problem is he will more than likely hide somewhere in the cage during the daytime and only come out to search around at night. Anyways have fun with him and dont be afraid to let him go around your house, you can never go wrong with a poisonous snake killing machine around lol.

I felt bad for not knowing what exactly to feed him so i released him by our barn

If I catch him again , or another breed of snake ill do my research before hand. I just like watching them

That is what we call a eastern king snake. Not a baby but not grown either.Very nice snakes. Not mean at all.Only snake I know of that you can pick up in the wild without even a strike.I was brought up knowing if you had this type of snakes you didn't have rattlers or copperheads. These type snakes lay eggs that hatch into about pencil size babies. They have more yellow color as babes. The small brown garter/gardener snakes have live babes. One day you have a large garter snake to move and the next day you have a skinny mama snake and 10 large tooth-pick size babes to go with her.Me and the kids have learned tons from our time outdoors. Its great your re-homed it.Thanks,
