Found a use for my lonely chick

They are multipling. Two chicks came on day 20. This fella and a silkie. The other one died. At least there are 2 in the hatcher cheering on.

Your pics are very cute- here is some helpful info.:

Hatching eggs and chicks that are out of the egg need different temperatures.

For an incubator, I keep it at 99.5 degrees. The Brinsea website has a free downloadable hatching guide that might be helpful for you.

For newly hatched chicks (after they have dried off and are ready to be removed):
90-95 degrees for the first week of life and decrease by 5 degrees per week until fully feathered, usually at 6 weeks.

But in winter I keep on going and transition them with a 100 watt bulb until 2-3 months as they aren't meaty like the spring chicks are this time of year.

So a chick that is a day old will be too hot at hatching temps.
