Found baby duck all alone watched for a parent nothing what can I do?

No parents anywhere, all alone in the middle of the road, kept it safe now what? I have a 8 week old welsh harlequin. Do I keep it or....I believe it's a goldeneye duck. I live in saskatchewan Canada.

Is it legal to take steal these type of ducks where you live?

I would take it to a wildlife rehabilitation center, that’s its best chance of survival right now.

Yes agree taking to a wildlife rehabber will give this little one the best chance of being released back into the wild when old enough. Bless you for saving it. Precious too.

I phoned wild life rehab and left a message, keeping fingers crossed they call back. I'll try to call again on Monday. Baby has water and crumble without medication should be OK for a bit. Has pooped, drank and ate!

That's great not always easy to get wild ducklings to eat. So that is a big plus. Let us know how the little one is doing and hopefully they will call you back.

The Migratory Bird Treaty Act prohibits the taking, killing, capturing, transporting, harboring of the birds or hatching eggs, that which are Native to the United States of America, Europe and central Asia. All are protected by state and federal agencies.
