Found Baby duck

I just got off work and am waiting for the guy to be home. I am going to get 3 little mallard friends for him. Just hatched last night.
I have decided yo name this little duck "gremlin" after seeing that all the chickens were terrified of him and he would run around and they would go nuts every inch he moved. It made me think of the movies, and how the one was super cute, but everyone still wanted to kill it because all the others were evil!
He is still doing good, but I am sure he will be thriving when he has friends.

Now when you bring home these new littles your going to have to watch closely because gremlin is much older and may get the best of them at first, they being newly hatched won't be near as strong. so introducing slowly and with supervision is very important. Look forward to seeing them all.

They are bigger than he is and they just hatched this morning and last night. He is very small.
They are eating and drinking. I put paper towels down and sprinkled food on them hoping that will catch his eye also. I hope they teach him what he needs to know.

You can float very small shreds of leafy greens (mustard greens, turnip greens) in water, that will get him excited. Also you can buy some meal worms and baby crickets for him too.

I have done it before .you need to feed them worms and pieces of watermelon.once he is with the other ducklings(domestic ones),he will be just like a normal domestic duckling ,try your best to have the same breed ducklings.But you might have a little hard time to teach him swimming.he will hesitate to swim ,which is normal while rasing wild ducklings.

and grit be sure to sprinkle chick grit on the floor of the brooder if feeding anything other than crumble.

I woke up this morning and he had passed :'( :'(
I should gave thought of this guy sooner to get babies from. I feel so bad.
Plus now I have 2 mallard babies I don't need! I do have a broody mama duck, does anyone have experience with giving ducks babies? I did it once but she already had other babies they kind of just joined in.

Aww, so sorry to hear that. How far along is your broody? If she's near hatching, you maybe able to give them to her, otherwise, I'm not sure.

I was thinking the same maybe slipping the ducklings under her with your hand over top of them so she doesn't see them. Be worth a try as long as you watch closely in case she attacks.
