Found Baby Hawk!! Help

Hey I just did some investigating and Kestrals are the only bird that an apprentice can use for falconry.... You might be able to place a bird with a falconer for an apprentices use... Contact the national Falconry Association.. http://www.n-a-f-a.org/ Here is a jumping off point. It states feeding only raw meat. This may be a federally acceptable placement that would give an apprentice a leg up.

thats a kestrel (a.k.a.) chicken hawk. i would seek help immeadeatly. i reccommend donating him to a zoo or wildlife facility. for, now id give im some mealworms and just make sure that he is fed and watered enough. Good Luck. He/Shes pretty cute.

When I was a little girl I picked up baby morning doves off the side walk and would take care of them. Once they got to the point they were feathered out I'd drop them from a few feet onto the bed and they'd eventually figure out how to fly. I fed them canned cat food with extra water mixed into it and they did fine.

is there an Audibon society in your area. They usually have pretty good info and often have rehab facilities. good luck— it would be better in the wild. mom is likely around fairly close and will reclaim if given the opportunity.

Since I have experience in handling and rehabilitating hawks, hamburger is not the drug of choice.

The bacteria content is hazardous and not recommend for baby or adult bird. Raw chicken is not that much safer.

Momma brings live food and shreds it as she feeds. She will bring smaller live morsels that the baby can swallow whole. This means viscera included. The viscera has organic greens and such that add to the birds nutritional needs. She also provides grasshoppers small lizards etc. Can you do that with hamburger?

I have had to rescue sick and failing birds from people who fed hamburger and baloney to their illegally captured birds.

What a cute face...I've had a kestrel crash into my car once...little teeny itty bitty birdie...

Go to the petshop and buy pinkie mice, heat them up (not in the microwave) cut them up small, use bamboo tweezers and feed the wee fuzzy.
