Found baby snake - Mom wants to kill - what species??

You have a totally harmless brown snake. Every year my children catch them and play with them for a while then send them on their way. Yours looks to be an adult and although it won't ever be large enough to eat rodents I'm sure it plays an important role. Also think of it this way it will never eat chicks, chicken, or eggs!

Its a young eastern gray rat snake...totally harmless but they get pretty big. You may want to relocated it away from your birds. When the get big they do eat eggs and might take a chick or bantam. They also get really aggressive so when they are bigger they are a handful to catch and relocate so you best do it now.

Please don't kill it. I know everyone wants them dead but they do a lot more good than bad. Its your call though..I dont judge.
