We've had chickens for a little over a year. We live in a small downtown area. Yesterday, somebody asked me if one of chickens had escaped. None of them had. There was chicken running loose in the neighborhood. She had spent a couple of days around the CVS pharmacy before another neighbor with chickens took her in for two days. Her chickens are huge and were brutal, so she was in a side yard, but escaped - and the neighbor doesn't want her.
I grabbed her off the street and we are keeping her in a chicken tractor with a little temporary box away from the other girls.
She's smaller than our Aracaunas. About the same size as our Frizzle. Larger than our Silkies (all are about 1.5 years old).
Her comb looks well developed. Her beak is shorter and rounder than the others, but I can't tell if this is due to an injury or just how she should be. The coloring looks like a Buff Orpington, but I'm no expert. She seems small to be one of those, no? There are no obvious injuries, other than it looks like she might have lost a few small feathers from around her comb..
If she's an old girl that someone just let loose, that's pretty crappy. Maybe she's not full size yet? Only had her one day and I'm sure she's pretty frazzled, so I don't expect eggs anytime soon if at all. Any ideas on breed, age, condition? We're putting up notices to see if anyone claims her.
Thanks in advance!
