Found duck eggs the other day

Some of the eggs have gone dark on the outside (like a dark blue/grey colour), does this mean they're dead?

I guess I should probably bury them then?

when I did candling last night I couldn't see any veins...at least we tried though!!

There are four without the bruising, I will candle them again and have a look

Hope there's some ok, but you started out fighting uphill... no shame in losing this battle, you did what you could and did great!

You should pop over and check out this thread... we're on it quite a bit along with many other good people... rowdy bunch, but each one is willing to help if ever needed... :)

I think they are all gone

going to give them a burial next to others I've rescued that have sadly passed...although there have been some happy stories like a sparrow who I found on the street that had a cut by its eye, it was tangled in shrubbery, I picked it up and took it home. That evening it was really poorly, kept falling over, was like that the next day too...but by the third day it seemed to be picking up again and by day 5 we had to borrow a bird cage to put him in! He was still unsteady on his feet though while flying so we kept him there for a week, then he was released at the local park

It's those success stories that keep us all going... :)

Sorry about the eggs, but at least now you know what you can try if you need to do emergency incubating...
