@PD-Riverman I have never heard of keeping ducklings around 100* even in a spot in the brooder. I've never gone over 85* and mine have done fine. Now baby chicks I have kept at 95*for their first week.Hey Miss Linda, re-read the post---a "spot" about 100 not the whole area 100!! Just like they snuggled under their mother--close 100 degree's.
I have not either Miss Lynda. I do not keep chicks at 100 degrees either. For the first few days I offer a spot about the size of a plate in the brooder if they (ckicks or ducks)want to feel like they are huddled under their mother. If they don't then they do not have to use it----its there----the rest of the brooder is cooler. I have seen baby ducks staying close to that spot for a little while but not under it----so close might be 80 to 90---they adjust like they want----you understand now?@PD-Riverman I have never heard of keeping ducklings around 100*
