Found Missing Chicken After Two Weeks Wedged Behind Hay Bales

I'm sad to say we had to put her down. She just wouldn't make any effort to eat, stand or even open her eyes. I think her internal organs just weren't working after not eating for so long. It was a terrible choice to make, but seemed the most compassionate thing to do. This is a great group, and I really appreciate the support and kindness shown here when I was trying to save her!

Oh I'm so sorry. You made a difficult but loving choice for her. These little fluffy creatures worm their way into our hearts...I know it hurts. Hope you have a good day and take some comfort from the wonderful environment you're providing for your flock...so much better than most of their kind experience.

Sorry for your loss. It's heartbreaking to have found her yet not be able to save her, but you tried hard. I lost one of my polish hens in the coop once, but found her the same day squeezed between some nest boxes where she hid to keep from being picked on.
