I don't think so because it sat In the Exact same spot for the lAst 15 min I watched it ... I think it was there all day..... My husband scooped her up w the skimmer and carried her to the hutch ....... She didn't move much at all.... But believe the lamp was the lifesaver ...

If they panic they will sink themselves. You also have to watch out for open buckets. They fall in head first and drown.

Not always, I think if they panic and their feathers all get wet and absorb a lot of water, then they could drown. Their feathers don't shed water like the feathers of ducks do. But if they are supervised carefully, their top feathers will stay dry on top and float for a while, and they could enjoy it. I suppose some chickens could be taught to swim sort of, but it doesn't really come naturally to them.
