Hello
A rooster showed up at my house two weeks ago and he will not leave. I have posted signs on several of the streets with my number hoping somebody would call to retrieve him but no luck yet. He chases me when I go to my car and he guards my gate so I cannot even walk out to my car most of the time. He chased my daughter all the way down the street and sometimes appears friendly and sometimes does not. I live in West Palm Beach and I'm looking for somebody to find him a good home but I do not want him hurt or somebody's dinner. If anybody can give me advice on who to call I would really appreciate it

Frankly, behaving the way he is the stew pot may be the best place for him to end up -- an aggressive bird is not something that most people are willing to tolerate. You can contact your local animal control and have him picked up. If you (or they, or any person who responds to your listing) want to catch him it is best done when he goes to roost at night as a bird at roost is easily handled allowing you to safely confine him either in a pen or cage.

Thank you for your responses
That makes me very sad thinking he may be aggressive and unwanted
Is there a chance he may not be aggressive? How will I know? My neighbors fed him by hand and never chased them
Although a girl next door went up to him and he just walked beside her but the when she stopped and faced him he jumped at her and she had to kick him down
Animal care and control said they will not come out to pick him up unless he is trapped

Sorry but, it's obvious why someone dumped him and why no one claimed him. Roosters can be very dangerous when they are aggressive - they can do great damage by spurring people or attacking eyes and face. Some birds just cannot be safe to be around.

Welcome!

While my faith in human nature has me hoping that he might have escaped; reality is that the others are right and he was dumped because he was a rooster and from the sounds of it, an aggressive one. Shame we can’t dump people for being irresponsible

Sadly, I have no suggestions except to do as animal control have advised and try and trap him .. either way the ending for him is probably not going to be a good one

Hello and thank you
I contacted a farm close by
Hopefully they wil come take him and let him roam free on their farm with the others
I can't possibly let animal control come get him since I know they will euthanize him and I can't allow that
It's not the roosters fault he's here and the owners better hope I don't find them because I'll make sure they know how it feels to be thrown away
Thank you again for your response

Heres hoping that the farm will take him. Ask around if anyone has a dog cage. If you find one place some chicken feed inside or scraps of food and water towards the back of the cage in bowls. Wait will he goes into get it and close the cage. This may take a while because he does not trusting anyone at this point. You may have to deliver him to the farm. You may even ask the farmer if he has something you can barrow to catch him with and feed if he will take him. Be very careful because he dangerous.

Thank you for the advice
I think I found the owner
Waiting to hear from him
I left a note on his door
Fingers crossed
