Found silver pheasant please helppp

Flight is their only defense,so if you clip his wings he will not be able to fly up and hopefully out of danger.Check craigslist for a few hens for him as they are aggressive breeders.Even if you don't want to breed him,you can not stop natures course. At least 2 hens 3 if you can.Or you can have a pen with just males, different breeds if you want, but, you must put them in at the same time. You can not add any birds to this pen once it is established. He is young enough so get some the same age and they should get along fine.Absolutely no hen pheasants around them or there will be a blood bath.

I guess I should be a little clearer about this.As long as your pen is big enough. For 4 birds your pen should be at least 10x10,with multiple perching areas, not so hi that a varmit can reach down thru and grab them.I like a 6 foot hi pen so I can walk thru without having to duck down.I'll post pics of my pens and if you need to ask any ?'s,feel free to ask.

Agree with Tony, only thing not covered was the free ranging. You can not "free range" pheasants. Once they get out, escape, etc...they will be gone, that's why you have this bird now!
Craigslist is usually chocked full of people selling pheasants. Good place to start. If you can't find any there, @Tony K T can probably put you in touch with a breeder.
You might ask around and be able to find out where this one escaped from, probably not too far from where you are located. HTH

I was hoping to make it smaller than 10x10 since he is all alone at the moment and I wasn’t planning on making a coop before he came along so I probably can adjust the size at a later time

Actually, 10x10 is minimal size for a pheasant enclosure. With pheasants bigger is better. Lots of pheasant furniture helps with keeping them content, big smooth rocks, stumps, limbs, grasses, shrubs, perches, all help to prevent "pacing the enclosure" and breaking up "line of sight" if an argument should insue.

Well you did mention getting him a friend.I mentioned the all male collection so figured you was building 1 pen.Pheasants are gamebirds and need room, and the bigger the better.A 10x10 is really big enough for a trio or quad, but no more then that. You could provide a coop but they rarely go inside a shelter.Obviously you do have a breeder close by as they are not common in the wild.

I will try to find him a friend and in that case I will definitely need at least a 10x10 run for them . But in the case I can’t find him a friend right away or at all I rather it be alive and have a place that’s safer than the great outdoors , raccoons and opossum are all over my neighborhood. I was wondering would I be able to get away with making him a 8x6run with a coop attached? If not I will figure out a way to rearrange my yard some more for space . My yard already has duck houses, chicken coops, runs as well a pool deck and kids toys . In nyc I also am working with limited space for it all .
