I am so excited, I now have all the breeds I wanted.
The New Hampshire Reds will be coming as day old chicks, but I can get them about the time my eggs should be hatching. I wanted to get everything about the same time so the pecking order can be worked out easily and I don't have to worry about problems that possible come from adding to the flock later on.

I am one of those that rather prevent problems if at all possible.

PS I also have 35 Freedom Rangers coming about the same time but they are all destined for the Freezer. I also hope to sell about 10 of them, if anyone in my area is interested.

I know that's a ton of chicks all at once, but I want to make sure enough hatch out and that I have enough of the girls I want. I originally was only going to keep one roo, but think I will 1) need more than that and 2) am thinking of keeping one for each breed so as to have pure babies to offer. (haven't decided yet) I need to look into the logistics of having multiple roosters. I noticed that several of you do, do they have to be kept separate or does it depend on the personalities of the bird. I think most of the breeds I've got coming are fairly docile.

Anyway if anyone has any thoughts or suggestions to share I would be so appreciative. Still learning!!

Just responding to bump this up for others to look at. But I have heard that a good rooster to hen ratio is one for every 10-15. Anyone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

Good luck with your birds- I just ordered 25 from Ideal that are coming the beginning of April.
