the only thing it has eaten at this point is some very oily peanut butter .. but we stopped that immediatly upon folks saying it is a no no ...

i have good news one of the sites that i went to about feeding baby wild birds recommended softened (warm water) cat or dog food its official the baby birdPopper just ate the equivelent of one dime sized (when dry) peice of puppy food and seemed to enjoy it alot... it is now sleeping.. now i need to know how much to feed this bird until its back on its feet

Thats a big meal for such a little guy!!! No wonder he went to sleep. I would too. Sounds like he's on his way to getting better.

Let him rest for now. When he wakes up I'd try again, you just don't want him to get weak/dehydrated. I'd probably try another piece of wet dog food then. The one thing to consider I would think would be how long you keep him on that - and how nutritionally similar it is to what he/she's been eating. So, keep trying to reach those animal folks in the meantime.

THANK YOU for all your suporto for this little bird. my daughter is docuamenting what she is doing so that she can use it in school this year. she stayed up all night with this little bird. i think it may be a flegdling as well at the very least a 2-3 week old breed of some kind. but either way we wil ehlp it and maybe find a wild life contact between now and the weekend to help us help it...

UPDATE

Popper is now eating a drinking regularly and has fell asleep for the night. Only sad thing is apparently there were others in the yard and i found them a little earlier in the night, but i was to late for them.

no one has contacted me to give help or advise.

once again thank you.

i will post an update each day till he becomes a pet or is able to leave on his own as an adult

UPDATE

Popper is now 2 days of doing well. P is eating about 3 peices of water soaked food a meal and eating a meal about every 45 minutes to an hour lol. P is drinking still yet and is enjoying a exploration of my daughter bedroom floor on occaosion. P's funniest act today was an introduction to my husband who the little fellow apparently likes since hae tried to follow him out of not only his cage but out of the room as well. This tickled my husband alot and he relented about having "that dang bird" in the house to asking about him every time he "tweets" as my husband is now calling it lol.

UPDATE

Popper is doing well and has started eating on his own. he is still eating the dog food but we bought some chick feed for him to switch to a little at a time. he has started settling down at night and my husband thinks he is jsut the cutest thing as long as he dont have to deal with him rofl...his funny for the day was my daughter had him out while messenging on her computer to her cousin. Popper was perched on the side of a plastic food bowl pecking at food, but only when my daughter was "pecking" at her keyboard.. lol... keeping a good rythem i must say lol
