Found Wild baby chick

If these are wild passerines, most feed their chicks very high protein.. mainly bugs. They don't eat grains until they're on their own. You'd be better off feeding wet cat food, or you could buy dried mealworms and crickets, remoisten, and feed with tweezers.

Welcome to Backyard Chickens. I'm sorry I don't know what to suggest since you can't find chick starter etc. to feed them. But, to cut down on birds you have to rescue, maybe you could keep your cat indoors, or make an outdoor run for her, that she cannot escape from.

Do have a heat lamp on Them? If they are snuggled together they're probably cold and that will kill them. You can buy meal worms anywhere they sell wild bird feed. Also most of the chicken feed is corn though I'm not recommending it but your chicks might do ok with a scrambled egg with crushed shell and some corn meal mixed together along with meal worms and some leafy lettuce until you find a better diet. They can eat some fruit too.

I am feeding them papaya. It's fresh. Also instant oatmeal, dry. Grass clipping. As well

i have a heat lamp on them and bought some medicated chick starter feed. when do they start to eat grit? they are getting big too. i take them out of their open brooder/hutch every day and let them out to forage. i keep an eye on them and its warm all the time where i live. except in the morning it goes to the lower 70's i think.

Go to your local Feed Store or your tractor supply and pick up a small bag of chick starter. Manna Pro makes a nice small bag of chick starter for one check and you'll be just fine . stop feeding it corn it's mostly fat and doesn't have the right nutrients.
Buy a small individual carton of Tokyo's triple zero yogurt vanilla flavor. It is very pure for chicks
Give the chick a half a teaspoon each day I
In a small saucer or cup. Take it out of the brooder after 10 minutes so it doesn't spoil under the warm light. it will help her have a healthy digestive system.
Best,
Karen

i picked up Manna Pro medicated
