Four days of no eggs and pasty butt?

is that common for birds over a year old? what would a shell-less egg look like? Yellow and white? I did see a big pile of something in the coop, but it looked more like poop to me than an egg...lol! Sheesh you would think after changing upteen hundred baby diapers I would know how to tell the difference between poop and an egg!

I will clean her butt again and see what happens.

We've had several shell-less eggs from our 1 1/2 year old sebright this summer. I gave her more oyster shells and it seems to have stopped. She's our most consistent layer, so it was very frustrating.

Shell-less eggs have a yolk, white and a membrane that holds it all together--just no shell. They look and feel like a water balloon. It's like someone was sleeping on the production line when the egg was being assembled.

I dust my birds for mites with Seven Dust. It works great. I get it at Wal-Mart in the garden section. Mites will kill a bird, so dust all of you chickens to be sure. Put it right down to the skin on her butt and under her wing pits. Get rid of those nasty things and she will be good as new.
Good luck!!
