Fowl Cholera Help

Did you or any of your neighbours put out rat/mice poison lately?
I doubt it, but I don’t know for sure. We only have two houses that are close. We never use poison for anything. Too many animals around. We have lots of mice in the barn for sure.

So, Brownie Bite looks normal again. She’s so normal I haven’t been able to get a picture because the poor thing is scared to death of me now and runs and hides☹️ I will keep trying, but I think she’s ok. LaFleche had an interesting thought about rat/mouse poison. To my knowledge no one around uses that. I was also thinking spider bite? No clue. Hopefully the drama is over.

Brownie Bite looks great! Her color is coming back and she’s actively running from me afraid I will stick her again. Thanks to everyone with your help and ideas. Guess I will never know🤷‍♀️

I am so glad she is better. Chickens are pretty resilient, I have found. I am happy for you, and her. We have a couple problems here with 4 chicks. Well, just one problem, really. I was left with no choice but to expand with a few birds from TSC. I don't like Tractor Supply but, I got 20 chicks from them. I have 3 Brahma, and 1 bantam girl, with bent toes. It appears their little toe was broken, and healed in a crooked backward position. I didn't notice it, until we had them home. It doesn't seem to bother them too badly yet. My bantam and 1 Brahma, I am worried about. The bantam has a missing toe nail, and it's just her quick dangling there. What a mess. We will do our best, and they will have the best life I can give them. I just hope we don't have to have any amputations. I'm afraid that may come to that for 1. It's pretty bent.

They are quite resilient. Especially from injury I’ve found. I have a few girls with bent toes. Quite bent on a couple. I didn’t notice when they were chicks because they were raised by mama. They get along just fine with no issues:) Amputation is not the best for sure. We did one on a friends roo that had a frost bit dead toe. That one was easy. I hope it turns out well!!
