*Fowl Contest*

Our Orpington babies are now almost 3 weeks old. I think at least 4 of the 6 are boys - I woke up yesterday to sprouting wattles. They are all very sweet.

Pixie the wonder Mum - she'd rather raise babies than lay eggs and adopted these chicks from the second she heard them cheeping (she'd been broody for AGES so I put her to work).

Cuddles - he's adorable.

At 2 days old I knew this one was a boy because it always stood like that! I named him Little Boy Blue very early on.

Blueberry Muffin being a giraffe (changed to Blueberry Muffin Man at two and a half weeks old due to his huge budding comb and wattles). He's a cross between a buff and either a black or blue Orpington.

And Greeny doing his best giraffe impersonation.

Butternut and Fairy Floss (due to her very long down). These two are my only hope for girls.

Aww, your chicks are adorable @JaeG ! I'm sorry they turned out to be roosters :( Out of 8 straight run chicks I got from the feed store they all turned out to be pullets! Even though I was wishing for at least a rooster or two

I love Blueberry Muffin man! He's adorable! I still can't believe their cuteness!

They are adorable and so sweet, even if there are lots of boys. At least the breeder will take them back. Chicks are so addictive! Muffin is one of my favourites too as he's so curious. They are 3 weeks old today and his comb is huge. We are getting a few more blue chicks from the breeder tomorrow as my Mum has lost two blue Orpingtons and really wants another. They will be the same age so I will see if Pixie will adopt them too but I won't hold my breath.

Thanks for doing these shows. I love seeing everyone's birds.

Awww so cute! What kind of chicken is Pixie? She's so pretty!

Pixie is an Old English Game Bantam. She's always been a very sweet chicken. I love her colouring. I think in the US it's referred to as Black Breasted Red but in New Zealand we call it Partridge. She is my favourite out of all our chickens (just don't tell the others). She used to have a huge, beautiful comb but since becoming so broody it seems to have shrivelled.

Cool! I need to get one of those! Too bad I already ordered my chicks.
