Good afternoon! my flock is going through a bout of dry fowl pox. The egg production rate has not been impacted significantly, I’m still getting 2 dozen eggs (at least) per day. The typical is 30-32, but I have 3 broody hens right now and one escaping to lay a clutch. The main issue I’m having is that the eggs shells are VERY thin. I haven’t found anything saying this is a common problem, so I’m wondering if anyone else has had this issue. They have been switched to a new local feed in the last few weeks. They have free access to oyster shell. It seems to be affecting the whole flock. Thank you for any insight!

It's more likely a calcium issue. Did this start when you switched feeds? Other vitamins and minerals are also involved with the absorption and use of calcium. Vitamin D, phosphorus, manganese, copper and zinc are all important, as well as others. If the feed is lacking somewhere it could be the culprit. You might want to switch feeds again, see if it resolves.

Thank you! It just started this past week. I am going to try different feed and see if it changes. Thank you!
