Fowl Pox

Ugh!! Just outside of Houston, I bet the mosquito's are awful! Hope you guys dry out soon!

Thanks! Imelda screwed everything up big time! I missed almost a week of class and the yard flooded, and now the mosquitos! Ughh, it's so nasty!

You have my condolences as I have 19 chickens with Fowl Pox. I have been using a Vaseline and Sulfur powder on the lesions. This is to help soften them so they can drop off. I am using 1% Iodine in the waterers and changing the water daily. After talking with the poultry vet this morning, he aid it would just run its course. There is treatment available. It's a virus and will not respond to any antibiotics. Good luck.

Well I do have some good news to report as of this morning. It looks like the scabs are starting to clear! My little red hen who had it the worst seems to look a lot clearer! Of course, I’ll still be keeping an eye on this!
