Fox attack - limp neck

Yes! It's scaring me! We did go fix the roof area where it went in. For three years it seemed to be very safe yet this one very small corner that sucker went right in under the deer fencing. The wall is like 6.5 or 7 feet! We may just tack on an entire full sheet of plywood 8' tall right there because I think the mesh on the fencing allow it to get a lift onto the roof. Very scary!! I am so scared it will be back!! I do think that sucker will. My hens will be locked up tight.

Good idea about the plywood, no way for Foxy to get purchase on it.

Ursuline, I've no advice, but wanted to say how very sorry I am that this happened. Good luck with your girl. Foxes do have babies this time of year and will certainly come back especially with mouths to feed. so be prepared if you can.
Thank you. My oldest daughter came by this morning and we fixed the area. Tonight when husband gets home we'll take even more precautions before dark. I'm so scared. They've been in it for three years and this has never happened : \

Many times they will heal without antibiotics. I'd just clean everything as well as you can and watch for any signs of infection. If there are any feathers or debris in the wounds, remove or clip them back. Keeping the wounds clean is most important. The vetericyn spray is good for this because you don't have to actually touch or further traumatize the tissue to put it on. She's probably going to be pretty inactive at first. If you think she needs support you can use a chicken sling to keep her upright and the weight off her legs if needed. You can search that and find lots of pictures. Make sure she stays hydrated. As she feels better she will then start to eat, but the hydration is most important at the beginning. You can give some chopped boiled egg if she'll take it. And make sure she is in an area where flies cannot get to her and get into her wounds. Glad she's looking a little better!

At this very moment, she is resting. It's hard to see the damage to her neck today but it was very clear last night as I clean them. Various puncture wounds. And her vent looks ripped :( I'm still undecided about the Clavamox, but my gut keeps telling me she might need it. Just don't know if it's insult to injury at the moment. It's really nasty thick stuff and not sure how well she's digesting currently. Her crop wasn't too full this morning, now I do feel it's a tad spongier. Would that be from the water?

This is her vent. Can someone tell me what's wrong with this? It almost looks like it's prolapsing. :( I'm trying to upload a video but it won't let me

First video I've ever put on Youtube! LOL Looks different, like two flaps are hanging out?
