My chickens were out free ranging today when I heard a loud noise. I got outside just in time to see a fox chasing one of the barred rocks. I scared it off but it got some of the bird's tail feathers and left a little gash/cut in the bird's lower back. After coaxing the attacked bird from under the shed, I put it back in the secured run with the others.
The injury doesn't seem to be affecting it so far. However, I've only been raising chickens for six months, so I'm not sure what to look for. Any suggestions on how to care for the wound and bird?
