Fox attacked my duck! PLEASE HELP!!!

Did you ever think of cageing your animals better? If a dog can get at your ducks a coyote or fox would have no problem makeing a nice meal of them. Sometimes you have to make sure you are doing everything before you take dramatic measures. Sure they should keep the dog caged as well but there is more that should be done on your end of things.
I agree, it's OUR responsibility to make sure our animals are protected so when a dog etc comes around it cannot get to and harm or kill them. I know sometimes even with all our efforts things still do happen, Those of us that free range face this everyday, but it's still our responsibility to make sure they are protected the best we can do.

And we have a HUGE snapping turtles that live in our ponds! We've set traps, shot them, etc! We can't kill them! they keep drowning our ducks! bummer! Logging off for the night bye! ;D
This is another issue that needs to be taken care of, there are ways to rid the pond of snappers before they kill everyone of your ducks or Mame them Google it.

Honestly thats the dogs problem... He's killed around 5-6 of our ducks. If the owner isn't gonna keep him locked up and secure then he's gonna get shot. And I don't want my own life or little kids in danger. Just tellin the truth
Kill the dog. We kept building up the fences for our large exhibition flock of geese, and my long breed flock of laying ducks. Lots of time and money invested. I was gone for 27 minutes yesterday, and these dogs were trapped in my pens upon my return. They killed over 50 birds total. Replacement cost? over 4000 dollars. Emotional cost of having to go out this morning and pile up all my sweet birds, the ones I've hatched and fed and reared, and paid good money for breeding stock off, off the charts. Price of my children in tears over the 4H animals, also off the charts.

Its not us who kills people "pets", its them who murder their own pets through crappy and irresponsible "pet" ownership.

Time to shoot, shovel, and shut up. Wish I had. We have weighted bottom, 6' fences, and within the perimeter fences, I have my bird paddocks. The dogs dug under the perimeter, and torn down the interior. In fact, our fences are so good, they got stuck in the inner Muscovy pen, and couldn't find their way back out. That's here I found them, in my innermost pen, about 3 fences inside the perimeter. I did my part. Wish the dog owners had done theirs.

Killed 3 exhibition quality geese. Killed our thanksgiving turkey, and a red Bourbon hen. Killed our special rooster. Killed about 45 ducks, including my new french white Muscovy's. some of these birds are rare heirloom birds. there are estimated to be about 100 breeding pairs of quality Anconas. These dogs killed 4 mated pairs yesterday.

Sorry to hear that. I honestly hate people sometimes! lol. They should keep their dogs caged up like look what happened to you! Most people let their dog roam thinking they just walk around, but instead they go kill fifty birds and the owner doesnt even know! So, What did you do about it? And that stupid neighborhood mutt stopped by yesterday and killed a duck out of my set of six that i hatched and was trying to sell to make money to buy another incubator!

Like I said, The people with the dog deifnitely need to take better care of it and not let it run wild, but those of us with birds need to also take special care that they are enclosed safely when we aren't supervising them. I don't like anyone who thinks their animal has more rights to roam freely making mischief than another. We all need to take care of our own pets the best way we can, or don't have them at all.
