Fox attacked my duck! PLEASE HELP!!!

We have two big ponds, but no fence. Our property and pond is way to big to fence in. It would probably cost thousands

We have a shop that they go in for shelter and several other houses plus the ponds big and their is floating docks out in the middle for protection. The people who own the dog taught it to be a hunting dog, but don't cage it properly. And he waits until the ducks go out to find a place to lay eggs then he usually grabs them, kills, and leaves them there.

You do know that if you don't do something about this dog it will just keep coming back till there are no more ducks. Do you have animal control? I'd give them a call if you do.

if you are unwilling to properly protect the ducks please think about listing them for sale or giving them away to a new home. You can build them an enclosure to protect them. You CAN fence in part of the property to give them somewhere safe to be during the day. Fences can be dug under, but if you do nothing to protect them you are as much to blame as the dogs owners since you offer no protection for the ducks.

Sorry to sound harsh, but it gets very tiring to read people post about dog attacks and in the same thread they say they dont, cant or wont fence in their property.

I'm not gonna waste MY money on my neighbors yard and pond which is were my birds stay half the time... And we arent selling/ or giving away any. They're our pets and we've raised them all from the eggs.

No you spend YOUR money on YOUR property and keep YOUR ducks on YOUR land.

Otherwise you have no place shooting the dog if YOUR ducks are on the neighbor property. Sorry if any animal owner doesnt do everything they can keep their animals on their own land they have no place becoming upset when a dog or another predator kills them.

its every owners responsibility to provide protection and containment on their own land for their animals.

Or you can kill the dog! You are allowed to, it is attacking your livestock.

Kill the dog. We kept building up the fences for our large exhibition flock of geese, and my long breed flock of laying ducks. Lots of time and money invested. I was gone for 27 minutes yesterday, and these dogs were trapped in my pens upon my return. They killed over 50 birds total. Replacement cost? over 4000 dollars. Emotional cost of having to go out this morning and pile up all my sweet birds, the ones I've hatched and fed and reared, and paid good money for breeding stock off, off the charts. Price of my children in tears over the 4H animals, also off the charts.

Its not us who kills people "pets", its them who murder their own pets through crappy and irresponsible "pet" ownership.

Time to shoot, shovel, and shut up. Wish I had. We have weighted bottom, 6' fences, and within the perimeter fences, I have my bird paddocks. The dogs dug under the perimeter, and torn down the interior. In fact, our fences are so good, they got stuck in the inner Muscovy pen, and couldn't find their way back out. That's here I found them, in my innermost pen, about 3 fences inside the perimeter. I did my part. Wish the dog owners had done theirs.

Killed 3 exhibition quality geese. Killed our thanksgiving turkey, and a red Bourbon hen. Killed our special rooster. Killed about 45 ducks, including my new french white Muscovy's. some of these birds are rare heirloom birds. there are estimated to be about 100 breeding pairs of quality Anconas. These dogs killed 4 mated pairs yesterday.
One thing that I do around my chicken's outside pen is make a trench and fill it with broken glass. I save all glass jars, bottles, etc., and just break them up and throw them in until the trench is 3/4 full, cover with dirt and then the chickenwire I leave extra on the bottom is put down over this and large rocks on top of that.
