"Don't be too hard on him. But I don't care how hard you are on Nina." Ruby said. She was just so filled with rage, she was used to having her pups lost when she used to live in a place where it was always snowing. They'd hide, and she'd be worried to death. It was so unkind of them to laugh about it. The world was a dangerous place but pups acted as if it was a game.
 
Vasper looked deeply into Ruby's eyes, gathering strength from her words. How long it lasted, he didn't know. He walked with his head up and tail straight back. He approached Sebastian slowly. He watched him intently. But Sebastian never looked up at him. He just sat there quite. So Vasper's posture deflated, then he set down. "Why?" Was all he asked.

Ruby just glanced every once and a while, listening to the conversation.
 
Sabastian finally glanced up at Vasper and asked, " Why, what? Why I left or Why I didn't say goodbye? I had to leave, I would have died of a broken heart. The not saying goodbye, was to keep you from stopping me. Things have been a chaotic mess here lately. and I wasn't contributing in any of the solutions. In fact, I became part of the problem, with Dakota and Mary. So I decided it was time to leave. I only regret, I didn't leave before we moved." He stated plainly.

Vasper's heart felt like a dagger had struck a fatal blow. He looked at his brother, but didn't recognize him. He was speechless. but finally he was able to force out," I had no idea you felt this way, Sebastian." He croaked out hoarsely.

Nina had gotten to the entrance of the den, where she had laid down to listen. "Let me guess." Nina said dryly, interrupting them. "Ruby sent you to rat me out for her, so she doesn't have to face me." She said, angrily.
 
Vasper looked around for Nina. He could only smell her sent but not see her. He ignored her words, then turned back to Sabastian and asked," How is the little one doing? Is she of the same mind, to stay out here in the woods? Or was her decision based upon a pups tantrum. In order to lash out at those that love her?" Vasper inquired bitterly.
