Fox Football anyone?

I'm impressed, your quick!

The only fox I've ever kicked was a dead one, too many years and beers

LOL Brayn I wanted to kick this one until it was dead. grrrrrrrr. It was a young inexperienced fox no doubt, not much bigger than my cat and he stupidily stood on my girl, never tried to bite her and watched me coming up to him with the roo in tow...I swear you could hear the wheels turning trying to figure out how to get the chicken to the woods, avoid the roo and me and s/he looked very shocked when I kicked his face and flipped him off of my girl. If I had grabbed something in my hands I would have been beating it to death.

After just losing my beautiful Buff Cochin to a coyote and then have a fox trounce on top of my red cochin I was not in the mood for predator nonsense within my reach.

My beautiful Hera RIP baby girl, lost to the now dead coyote

as a baby she lived in the house in my DDs room for several months until she outgrew her cage and got stuck in it one night....we thought she was a bantam until her growth spurt. LOL:

He knows I would and he knows I would die defending or protecting him. He means more to me than life itself does.

I am so so sorry about your girl. I was so afraid I was going to find Ruby dead or seriously injured when I saw the fox standing on her. But when she leapt up and ran I almost cried but I was too mad and too worried about Lancelot following the fox into the woods...he was beyond mad! But bless his heart when I yelled "Lance NO! Come to mama" he stopped dead in his tracks and started coming back to me.

I have heard folks say that chickens are stupid but that is a load of buffalo dung. They can learn their names, commands like No, Come, Go, Stop and Shut It

Ruby understood me telling her that is was going to be alright and I needed to check her over. She sat there very calmly in my lap letting me look through her feathers and on her body for injury....even pulling her wings out and checking the bones. She wanted to be petted and soothed as much as I needed to hold her and sooth her. And tell her that I love her and was glad she was okay and that mama would take care of her. I even apologized to her for not being there before it happened. She talked to me and put her head against my tummy and just sang softly while getting petted.

I would take my chickens over a cat anyday for a lap pet.

Cetawin - I agree, I really honestly do like my chickens more than my dog. They are my beloved pets, which is weird. I mean, a chicken?

I had NO IDEA they could understand commands, tho. Oh, except they all come running for leftovers when I call them, or clang the dish.

I don't think they're dumb either, altho that's the prevailing thought.

Lol The name of your rooster is so appropriate too charging to the rescue

Yeah a chicken....someone needs to ask Speckledhen about my Delaware hen Fattie....she came for a weekend visit up here the day after my Buff Cochin Hera was killed by a coyote...so we spent Saturday sitting on my porch swing chatting with my rifle sitting in front of us so my birds could enjoy a beautiful day in safety. Well Fattie and a couple other girls enjoy the swing so Fattie, after several minutes of deciding if Cyn was a good person or not, paced at the edge of the swing seat...then she hopped up on the edge and sat thee a minute...when Cyn asked her if she would let her pet her, and reached over to pat her cheast, Fattie decided she was good chicken people and climbed up in her lap for pats, swinging and a nap. For about 30 mins or so, Fattie napped in Cyn's lap. She eventually got up and laid her egg in the swing next to Cyn and hopped down and went about her chicken business. LOL

Lancelot would come close to her and check her out but he would not take food from her hand or anything...but he knew his girls were safe around her and he was absolutely wonderful.

So, they really are great pets, with their own personality and quirks. I love my birds.

Some time check out all the videos on youtube.com about chickens learning to count and identify sounds with pictures....they are really good trainable pets.
