We have a rather large fox population here. It exploded a couple of years ago and we lost more than 40 free ranging chickens in a weekend. Our chickens can no longer free range. The best thing we ever did was pick up a bluetick coonhound that was running half starved down the middle of the road. They are LOUD and bark at everything. Even though she is kenneled so she doesn't run, she keeps the foxes at bay. We hear them barking, yipping and yowling nearly every night but they pretty much stay away from the barnyard now.
