Fox is killing My chickens!!! What the Heck do I do!!!!!!

shoot it and leave its body on he property for a week or so. We he to do that w the coyotes...theyhave killed three of my cats from may to last week its sad for sure but it has to be done. cant keep killing my pets.

Foxes will kill many more chickens than it can eat or take with them. There goes some folks idea of its just hungry. When a flock of chickens start going crazy when a fox appears the fox goes nuts and just grabs and kills each one it can. I've seen it happen many times. Secure coop at night, free range during the day and shoot or trap every fox that shows up. If you can't do it chickens may not be for you. Imo it's worse to keep chickens locked up in a tiny coop and run and never allowed to free range because you may be afraid of losing some.

Get the doberman On a run around the cage or put him near the cage fox tried that with my weiner got his leg broken (pull out of his socket) and 23 ft away I found the fox dead.

Shooting it will stop that fox but soon enough a nother fox will take is place and start the cycle again
their are a few things i can think of
A) make a nice kennel for your doberman to sleep so that it will chase off any predators that try to get at them
B) it may sound gross but male urine sends hormones ect and it will deter it for a while
thats all i can think of right now but ill keep thinking

Shooting would be my preference over baiting, etc, but they are stealth, so I think this method will be easier said than done. I don't have time or patience to sit and wait and hunt them.

Well is all started a morning a couple weeks ago when a fox broke into my bantam pens. I lost 5 birds

I Assumed a raccoon because I found the tracks from where he dug under the fence. So I put up live traps and caught the darn thing. However, the nature of the attack didn't fit the raccoon's killing style (Raccoons will kill one bird at a time were as I lost 5) So maybe something was still out there?? I didn't know. I just hoped I had caught the culprit. A week later I Heard the birds yelling again early in the morning, So I bolted out the door. Whatever just killed my LF cochin hen Jumped back Over the fence!!!! So now this thing climbs and Digs! Sheesh! I started letting da' birds out late in the morning to keep the thing away. So now, 4 days later, it seems like it's gone, I let the birds free range. I hear my brother yelling "FOX!!!!" so I look out the window. There is a fox right next to the Darn house EATING MY Ameraucanas butt off!!! At this point, I let my Doberman out, and she chases it into the neighbors yard. later that morning it came back and tried to eat my Brahma. What the heck do i do!? It's coming out in the day now! Can I shoot it?
I'd shoot it personally but my coup and run is like Fort Knox and unfortunately in Kansas I would have to have a fur harvesters license and could only harvest it using prescribed methods and only in season... As I said, I'd shoot it!!
