Like the title says, one of my chickens was killed by a fox, but not eaten. The fox had easy access to the other chickens, but they were unharmed. Any idea why this might have happened? I'd imagine the fox would have eaten her if it was even remotely hungry.

foxes love killing things and then sticking the dead animal someplace where they can come back later to eat it.

So, if a fox sees something that it can easily kill, even if it isn't at all hungry, it will kill it.

In your case, it must have gotten scared off before it was able to drag the body off somewhere, or it killed the chicken and then realized that it couldn't drag the body to where it wanted to store the body.
