Fox kits (mom killing hens)

omg what a sweet face! What are your plans - are you calling a wildlife rehab or a zoo or something? Just curious

I haven't have a problem dispatching nuissance animals from my property but the one I know I'll have a hard time with is the fox. I'm a softie when it comes to them. I think they are beautiful animals and have always liked them. Of course, I've not lost livestock to them yet either so it's easy for me to say now. It sounds like you found a good alternative.

First, thank you for your service!

Second, I understand not wanting to shoot it.

I have a commercial nuisance animal trapping permit but found that I just can't kill baby raccoons for a living. (raccoon babies in attics, chimneys, crawlspaces are the #1 call)
....And I don't even like raccoons.

I hope the mom and other babies won't bother your chickens anymore.

Fox kits are way too cute! One Sunday evening after church, we started to drive past the cemetery on the way home and saw some fox kits playing in the ditch. We stopped and watched them for over an hour. When they finally went back into their den, and we went to leave we saw 4 other cars who stopped to watch them! It was just so much fun. Too bad they grow up...

You're a good man, Stevo.. a good guy.
And yes, thank you for serving our country...
My father also had 2 tours in Vietnam.. so thank you very much.

I'm officially a wimp too.

And got the bag of dog food to prove it. Foxes, I don't have.

Were you able to handle it?

I cute little fox like that killed 10 of my chickens about 2 weeks ago. The whole family took aim at my beauties and wiped them out. I know they are cute but I hate them. They just come right up in the back yard and carry off my chickens, the chickens are not scared of anything because we have 4 big dogs and they think they are just another dog. Just remember they love chicken. Your chickens.

We had a family of fox move into the pasture one year, they really are cute. But they were digging big holes that were dangerous for my horses so they had to go. DS was shooting them for me, and if we left the dead one out there they would just drag it into a hole and fill it in. Then they would go hang out at another hole about 10 feet away. I doubt yours left because you trapped one...

I don't hate foxes killing chickens as much as raccoons... the fox just kill what they need to survive. Put out dogfood? I wouldn't... that will just attract a whole lot of other critters. Skunks, raccoon, oppossum...

Oh my word! It's so cute!

Glad you didn't kill it, but s/he'd better be glad he wasn't at our ranch.

Once a baby bob-cat had gotten into my chicken coop and had killed one of my many favorite bantam boys, and he died of lead poisoning...he was a super cute 'lil guy though!
