Fox trouble

Test the wires and make sure you have good voltage in all of them. Then bait a wire near the ground where you think the fox may try to get at the chickens. Drape a piece of raw bacon on the wire making sure it doesn't touch anything but the wire.

It would be great if you had a trail cam so you could find out if the fox got his lesson or if something else does, but a carnivore of some sort will surely take that bait.
Thank you so much for your help!

I've had grey fox here at the house for years.
Had my chickens about a year now, and the fox(s) have not tried to kill them. I coop the chickens at night, and they have a 100'x150' chicken wire run I turn them in during daylight hours.

I actually feed the foxes on a bench out front. Just a few scraps and maybe a slice of bread or two. I really enjoy having them around.
No problems with fox, but I have had coons try and get in the coop. They are easily caught with a live trap close to the coop. They would rather have an easy meal than one they have to work for, so the coons don't continue down that road once I set the live trap.

that puts my mind more at ease!

I have two standard schnauzer dogs. I take them out at night to do their business, and 2-3 times a week, the fox will be out front. My younger dog will give chase... Then come back empty handed of course.

Dogs chasing the fox doesn't even slow them down. I go back in with the dogs, and the fox comes right back and finishes his meal. :)

I think the fox and my dog think it's a great game.

yep touching the ground. I try to keep the grass nice and trimmed around the fenceline however.
If you don't test it, with a good tester, you won't know if it's shorting out the whole system.....you may well need to move that ground touching wire up higher.

Knowing your real location would help  do you get snow?

I will test it tonight.
A little, we had a small amount this year. About six inches that melted within a day or two.
