I just bought a house-Yay! The 'lawn' of said house is about 75% foxtails- boo! I know they can be serious for dogs, and believe me I am sick of going over the dogs 15 times a day to remove the seeds. We are trying to keep the stuff mowed past the point of seeding, but it just keeps seeding on shorter stalks. Eventually we plan to re-seed, but eradicating it will be impossible on over an acre. My chickens have 1/3 acre to themselves. Though they are not afraid of us, they don't like to be handled and they certainly don't appreciate us going through their feathers. I know they are flexible and have beaks designed to pick stuff up, so am I correct in thinking they are ok? I have never seen them pick the foxtails out, but I assume they would if they poked them. Has anyone had this be a problem?
