Thanks so much for the compliment! Actually, Sylvia (the owner of the frizzle tolbunt Polish rooster) also thought mine should have won bcs of the color since type was similar. Guess you have a good eye!

But, thing is that the standard calls for 50% red, 25% black and 25% white. So, I guess the judge knew best, eh?

but as Erin (Msbear) can tell you, I fall for all of her mille cochin culls that have a tad too much white in them. I just cannot help myself

You know, I thought I wouldn't like the Tolbunts with a lot of white, but when my hen molted and her new feathers came in with a lot more white...well, I think she looks pretty cool lighter. It might not be the standard, but it's awfully pretty.

Offtopic and old thread, but...

Anyone local to the MD (Frederick radiating outward) area know of any local breeders who will be selling pullets around Feb/March of rare breed chickens? Any local sources (prefer that over the major farms)? I'm new to the area and have no idea where to look.

4H breeders?
Extension groups?
University groups?
