FREE chicken coop plan (nice one too) on the Purina Mills Website

Thanks Pikeman. I will post more pics when i make more progress. Only get to work on it on weekends. My flock is only 3 weeks old so I have some time.

I am in TN, so winter is not that bitter, but it does get cold sometimes and it is good to know it winters well.

Jaywell - Looks good! I really like this design and after a year with my birds in it I can say it winters well too! Continue uploading pictures.

UPDATE:

I was able to squeeze some more work after work. Here is the progress:

Nice job!

I've started mine and hope to finish this weekend. I did make a few modifactions like a solid roof with roll roofing and I put the panels on teh inside of the frame, my wife liked the look better taht way. Here's a few pictures of my progress! Let me know what you think....I did stick with the 4x4 plans because of space.

Looks really good!. How are you going to get it to its destination? It weighs a lot. Curious minds have to ask ;)

For mine I built the base and the roof separately. Then, I carried the base and got it in place. Once that was done, on went the roof. You are correct, collectively it weighs a lot, but in pieces not too bad.

It's not that heavy , maybe because I didn't use the recommended thickness on the plywood or siding, to cut down cost since I bought all new lumber. One person on each side can lift and move it, plus the location I'm,putting it is only like 20 feet max from where its sitting.

Will be looking forward to seeing the finished product. Great job so far.

What has everyone done for roof on this? We expanded to 4x6 and this is getting expensive!! We are up to $300 and no roofing material yet. DH said will be $100 for shingles just for coop, and we have the run to do too, so was wondering if there is a cheaper way? He was going to do the corrugated PVC called palruf but I'm not sure about it. It seems so flimsy but maybe its fine i dont know. He already cut out sunroof on plans but could fill it in. I don't know how anyone built this as cheaply as some said!!
