What is the best way to free feed calcium with out the jerks spilling/dirtying/flipping or popping in it?

What is the best way to free feed calcium with out the jerks spilling/dirtying/flipping or popping in it?

I hang the Oyster Shells the same way.
I drilled several 3/32" holes in the bottom to drain moisture from grit and shells, not for the water though.

Do you have problems with them perching on it? Mine are little a-holes.

I don't. They will perch on what's highest.

ok, Mine perch in a hierarchy lol. only the top ladies get up high.

I use a metal feeder, works fine. And sometimes some poo lands in it's open top, easily scooped out, and not a big deal. Chickens do make messes!

Is it attached or freestanding? I'm thinking I'll need to mount something

I use a plastic gutter - and since they have higher perches - they don't perch on it. Got tired of them knocking the buckets over, and didn't have a good way to hang them.

 

[Folly's place]

Mine holds a lot of oyster shell, and is set on concrete blocks, and is too heavy for anyone to tip over.
