One way of supporting your local wildlife is having places to raise their young. National Wildlife Federation will certify your property, if you meet the requirements.
1. A place to raise their young, example, trees, bushes.
2. Water, have a place for them to drink.
3. Food, plants that provide nectar, nuts & berries
4. Cover, places for them to run to when needed.

The photo of the egg with the flash light, is one that is not viable. You can see the air sack to the right of the egg.
A viable egg is all dark with a chicken inside.
