Free Range hens: should they be fed onions and garlic?

Should I be feeding my hens fresh onions and fresh garlic?

Not on purpose. They can have some on occasion without problems in my experiences, but I wouldn't feed them on a regular basis.

I don't think they'd actually 'flavor' the eggs,
but garlic can cause anemia of they eat too much.

I heard that garlic in small amounts every couple of weeks is good for them, but I haven't looked into it much.

I wouldn't feed either onions or garlic to them. An occasional bite won't hurt, but not food that should be on their list. Here we eat the garlic and onions, none goes to the chickens!
