free range to confinment

My chicks run free now but I plan to keep them in the coop and run when they start to lay. Will the change in condictions effect there egg laying?

I annually restrict range of the free-range flock to coops. Decline in egg production apparent but short lived. Egg production will pickup after a few days assuming feed quality is high.
