Most privacy fencing is sold in 6 foot heights.

Glad the OP's chooks can't clear the fence...whatever it's height.

Well, things might be different in CA, but I've lived in about 10 different states, and in most parts of the country I've seen, front yard fence is 3-4' while backyards are 5-6'.  You might measure your back fence to be sure it is 8' - I'd be really surprised to find that it is.

this has nothing to do with chickens but just so we could get a good nights sleep I went and measured the fence and its 8ft. my dad said he got a permit to make it that high. Without a permit the max is 6ft for backyards and 4ft for front yards
