Free-ranging in the rain?

Well, I have Rhode Island Reds and Barred Rocks - a lot of the time they are out free-ranging when a cloud comes up and they don't seem to be bothered by it at all. On occasion, when it is a thunderstorm - they will get underneath the nandean bush but they never go back in their coop. Even my Silkie's will stay out during showers esp. my white one and WHAT - let the rain stop and she is wallowing in the the dirt. From observing my 10, I really think they like getting wet - esp. during the hotter months. For sure, I've seen them out in the rain during the fall, when it is sleeting and the only time I've actually seen them go in and stay is when we have had heavy snow - hardy chickens and I let them do as they please.

That's what mine do when the sprinklers go on in the back yard. It didn't take them long to figure out where to stand for a minute to avoid the water until they can get a opening to get to the other side of the yard. Super funny to watch.
