Free Riding Hens?

Hello,

Our 5 hens (2 Plymouth barred rock, 1 Dominique, and 2 Buff Orpingtons) are 5 months old today. They are happy and healthy and in a big secure run with a nice coop, deluxe accommodations, great food, fresh produce, bugs, let out to free range for a few min each day supervised just for a change of pace, oyster shell supplements.....and nary a single egg yet! Any idea what might be up with our girls?

I agree, they are still a bit young. They'll start laying eventually. You just have to give them a few more weeks.

There’s still hope, we got ours in March and only four of the 15 are laying. They just started. It’s exciting. Best wishes that they hurry and lay, it’s super exciting!

Update! Today we got our first 2 eggs!!! The girls are 25 weeks old. Huzzah!
