Free standing wood burning stoves

We have a wood stove to supplement our heat. I have it burning from the time I get up (around 5:30) till I go to bed (around 10:00). I load it before I head off to bed. It's a air tight, made by morso - http://www.morsona.com To me it's a chunk stove, small pieces, but it keeps our house warm on average around 70 degrees. Wood for me is cheap, either free or scrap. Last year I put in solar hot water and loving it - http://solarhotwater.siliconsolar.com/pre-packaged-solar-hot-water-systems-40-50.php. I would estimate we have only used less then 60 - 70 gallons of oil since march2010. There is 3 full time adults here.

Try to keep you pipe as straight as possible. I was told the more bends you have the greater risk of creosote build up.

He is a picture of ours. My wife bought it at an auction several years ago and I installed it two or three years ago when we started remodling the living room. It's dusty right now, I've had the flu for over a week and just haven't felt like cleaning house.

I've been obsessed with heating with my wood stove for 3 years now. I absolutely love it! "He who chops his own wood is twice warmed". But before you go buy a wood stove, check out this wood burning idea that uses 1/5th the amount of wood. And will save you a thousand dollars or more. It is called a Rocket Stove Mass Heater. They are easy enough to build, are fairly safe to use, and your house will still be warm when you wake up in the morning. Also, they burn very clean. I know I'd rather be burning one cord a winter instead of five. So check this out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LfKHVoCY2so

, here is a site that has tons of wood stove knowledge and wisdom: http://www.woodheat.org/

My mother has a wood-burning stove & loves it. I'd like to have one as well, to cut down on my heating bill. Ok, so we wouldn't use it very often in Florida, but I love the look & functionality of them!
