I have a Silver Wyandotte healthy brood hen that I would like to find a good home for in the Raleigh-Wake Forest, NC area. She was born Feb. 1, 2016. I have no rooster. She was broody for 21 days in April, and she's broody now.

Hi, welcome to BYC! :frow

I have several girls I have to employ the broody breaker on. Basically an elevated wire bottom cage. If you don't break them they could go on like that for a very long time. Some of mine lasted more than a month, even with NO eggs before I wised up. Having a rooster has nothing to do with a hen being hormonal. And hormones are somehow what tell a hen to go broody. I don't like my girls to be broody either... they lose body condition, become shaky, and occupy the lay box from other girls. Not to mention don't lay eggs and act like hags! :barnie If you decide to keep her, just employ a breaker (even a milk crate with NO bedding).

Otherwise, good luck finding her a great home! :fl
