Freedom of choice

In answer to your question I would say that the world would be better with laws that are clearly written and not open ended as many are. Thus they are used outside the original intent.

In my time dealing with legislation I have seen many very poorly written regulations that passed and became law. In some cases it has taken years to get them cleaned up and better defined.

Poorly worded legislation and laws allow serious criminals to walk away everyday also. Yet there is little motivation to change them.

With any form of protest or disobedience most know exactly what the consequences are. Yet they are willing to stand up for something seen as unjust and draw attention to it. That is the basis of the formation of the country you live in and enjoy.

...its ILLEGAL/AGAINST THE RULES/ NOT ALLOWED how many ways does it have to be said fair or not its WRONG.

There are plenty of Fascists who prize citizens with that attitude. WRONG to disobey an unjust law in protest rather than roll over and play dead as some would have us all do, mmmmmmm, I think NOT.

I don;t know how many of you feel in the USA, your situation is very different to here in the UK, and I am older, but let me say, it is not my intention to hurt or offend anyone and my opinions are my own. lol.... maybe that is why I am alone.

I have watched successive governments here erode the education system, undermine a great teaching system in this country, then they broke up the extended family by destroying industry, and developing the service industry in this country, and by selling off many companies to overseas or europeans. there should be a big sign that says "FREE THINKERS NOT REQUIRED"

Now we are living in a land where people make decisions about how we can live and die, with no knowledge or understanding of how we have lived, our culture, our heritage, nothing.

We used to be a nation proud to give the government a prod if we thought they were overstepping the line, and where things could filter up from the people to those in power. But many of us older people feel this has been bred out of us, education does not engage with history any more and we are being driven headlong into a new era where you do as you are told and behave like all the other sheep or you are OUT!!!!

I am so glad I am a classic black Sheep....lol.. and I hope a free thinker.

I don;t know about the rights and wrongs in this thread, but I am very tired of groups of young people in suits triumphing over real values just to score the point of putting others in their place, and doing so from a stance of total ignorance.... I hope you do not suffer this there.

I don't think Marlin is supporting those laws but is just stating the reality
of them. If someone breaks the law, regardless of the fairness of the law,
then they are responsible. A good example of this are the many people
here who have chickens when city ordinances prohibit them. If they get
caught they have no right to cry.

With that said, I would be the first to have chickens whether or not there
was some ridiculous law on the books. Fighting city hall is not something
I would enjoy, or maybe I would.

I know Marllin personally and feel like I know most of the others posting
on this thread. I think I can say with confidence that this group would be
among the first citizens to rise against a facist, Marlin and Joe possibly
leading the rebellion.

Publicity is quickly becoming the only recourse of action for those being bullied by law makers. They should be shouting it from the mountaintops "This is stupid!" The law, the whole of the law, should fit on a 3" x 5" card we can all carry in our pockets.

its actually a good law,, i bet ya do some research and you'll find it was enacted cause someone killed a bunch of people by giving them "bad stuff" ,, the law is good,, it has good intentions,, and NEEDS to be there,,, it just needs some refining

and trust me i HATE laws,,, geesh im a hippie ,, them law things just bug me,,,, BUT MOST,, laws started out from a BAD situation,, im glad to know when i buy a jug of milk that i know its been through inspections to make sure it aint gonna kill my kids.

Jim, the only problem with store bought stuff now is that it probably came from China and is full of Melamine. I'd rather take my chances with a bit of American cow poop. Remember, A rule is a rule as any fool should see, we don't want no hairy headed hippies scaring decent folks.

wow - interesting thread, has its pros and cons in all aspects of "big brother" getting in the way of our daily lives, as usual; Hubby and I were just discussing this very thing this morning. I dont agree with the gov't telling me I cant raise/serve foods to people in my own home or bring it to work - heck - I think its rather annoying that a kid cannot have a freaking lemonaid stand in their front yard any longer and not get harrassed
roll.png
- and herein lies the question I have: then why is it okay for schools/churches and other organizations to have bake-sales and sell/give away such things? They are made out of peoples kitchens but I dont see them being harrassed, yet I see Susie down the road trying to raise money for her family/cause gets shut down, then its all over the news and ends up in court

Stupid - poor kid was just trying to do something she believed in.

No difference here. What makes this cow situation any different than farmers that do the share cropping? its not any different in my eyes. You are paying for a commodity you desire, you go to a farmers market right? Farmers markets dont require inspection, you pay $10.00 for a stand and there ya go! I have been to hundreds of them where people are selling their homemade goat cheeses and other goods - why is it different for a cow and should it be? No.... it shouldnt in my eyes. Last I heard homesteading wasnt a crime either....and the gov't shouldnt and has no control over what I put into my body or my family's body. I choose not to use pesticides - do you know if what you purchase from the grocery store "farmer" chooses that option as well?

Its the same old story - sort of like "you're legal at 18, considered an adult and we'll charge you as one, join the military and if you're a boy, oh yeah - you must sign up anyway whether you want to or not - its called the Draft - fight and die for this country *oh, and I am SOOO Pro-Military so dont bash on me, my dad, sis, and bro were all Marines
big_smile.png
*, do it all - but....dont drink....you're not responsible enough in our eyes until the age of 21 we believe"....

At 18 I had a full time job working as an analyst, had my own house (rented, but I was out on my own paying my own bills), married at 19, kid at 21 and I did just fine, thank you very much Big Brother!

Amazing.... blech...

i only scare a "few" hehe

and that china POO is way worse then what we would get from the neighbor,,,any day,, thats another thing that should be against the law!!!
BUT,, the original law, and the reason behind the law, was "spot on",, but as usual,, its gone TOO far,, and is only as bad as it is now cause of $ ,, MOST laws are made so that the gov. can make money from it,, either make the money from all the licenses and permits, or make it by fines,,, if people want fresh milk,, they should be made to sign a waiver, that no matter WHAT, if theres complications,, then their bummin,,,, alot would say they'd do that,, UNTIL the first death,, then it would be back to step 1 again.
and ALOT of the laws pertaining to "serving" food from your residence,, is if you get $ from that food,, then you need the inspections,, but if you "give it away" then theres no laws pertaining to it,, unless its like a "hunting meat",, then you need to have the persons name, address, and license # on it.,,, here i can give food away all day,,, with no problems,,, BUT, the minute i cgarge .20 for a sandwich,, then i have laws i have to follow.

so... lets say I say... ask for a donation for said product...

not breaking the law am I?

Kids have carwashes all the time - and say "we cannot charge you but are asking for a $5.00 donation"

so... loop hole?

I have been to many a bake sale and even the Ag Fairs and Wine Festivals and have seen prices on food items... including home made cheeses, yogurts, etc - made from both cow and goat milk. Is goat milk exempt from the same regulations as cows milk is?

*edited for spelling...sheesh*
