Freedom of choice

most that use the "donation law" are non-profit groups,,, church's schools, charity's" and usually you can only do it for a certain amount of "time, days" .. i've tried bout everything here to keep from spending $10,000.00 for a simple BBQ stand

The law was written for a good reason in times where people didn't know as much, now people know how to handle things better, and the law is being used to protect bigger interests. Society is rife with examples of good things (laws, unions, etc) being used past their useful lives for reasons that have nothing to do with their original intent. First they're written to protect people, then they are enforced to protect - protectionism. Yea, the laws should be changed, but as has been mentioned, you need deep, deep pockets to make that happen. As Charles Dickens wrote in Oliver Twist - "The law is a (sic) arse". This applied to the concept of coverture , but it's applicable here, too.

With laws we are currently seeing here and in a few other places that donation will land you in jail. It has become illegal to even GIVE AWAY much of what a farm produces.

If you do further research you will find proposed food safety regulations could soon bring fruit and vegetables under this umbrella. So don't share carrots with your neighbor before checking your laws next year.

I would have to argue "Survival of the fittest." Let the weakest ones weed themselves out.

Let's take guineas as a metaphor for human idiots. You can lock them up, control their food, watch them like a hawk, and still they find a way to die. I think idiots should have the opportunity to move to a state loaded with idiots where they can suckle off the shriveled teats of government. Then the rest of us can make a real life for ourselves in the real world. As Jena pointed out, the government isn't interested in protecting idiots. It's interested in protecting pockets, very deep pockets. The idiots are just too easy to use, because they're idiots.

The "judges" in Indiana are much worse than just a "bad joke". They're nothing more than front-line guards of their political bosses' campaign funds and the funders who can buy special dispensations from any law and protection from anyone who's damaged by their shenanigans. The whole "system" is more corrupt, evil, and dangerous than anything or anybody who could be brought into it to be "judged".
When I'm called for jury duty, I always tell them that I wouldn't find a murdering rapist who's a Russian spy who robbed the Chase-Manhattan guilty in an Indiana court. I've never been on a jury, and I DO NOT have a "civic duty" to do anything to make the "judges"' jobs or their theaters of political farce appear fit to exist.

There are plenty of Fascists who prize citizens with that attitude. WRONG to disobey an unjust law in protest rather than roll over and play dead as some would have us all do, mmmmmmm, I think NOT.

Amen! & well said!!
