So far we have no safety threats and 3 of my standards are freeranging, is it okay for bantams to freerange too? Most are almost 3 months old. Would like to allow them to be out of the pen in the daytime but have been afraid to.

Their small enough that my neighbor's cats can make off w/ them so I don't anymore. I only let them out when I am home and watching.

Mine are attached to the standards feet. If yours stay close to the standards all the time it would be Ok. Otherwise I'd worry about hawks.

ours are free ranging, because they came from a free range farm and went NUTS being in a run and tractor.

they stay hidden pretty much and do great bug control!

my cats ignore them and the bantams roost in trees at night.

it will be one of those things you just have to decide. what works for you? and like mentioned above, there is always a possibility of someone getting carried off.
