Freezer question

You'll be happy you went bigger. You'll raise some CX, you'll find someone who has half a hog that's not spoken for, you'll find a great sale on butter around the holidays. Those ducks will reproduce and you'll have several to process. Around this time next year, maybe you'll have tons of zucchini and freeze a few loaves of zucchini bread for the winter. Jugs of ice for keeping a cooler chest cold when going on a trip. I can't tell you all the things that get put in our freezers. Right now we have the top in the house, a side by side fridge/freezer in the garage, a smallish chest freezer and an upright. Good thing, we've got 2 hogs to be butchered next month, plus all these blessed cockerels I've hatched out this year

we just butchered almost 40 chickens and put them into our chest freezer 15 cubic ft. When we checked on how they were doing all the chicken on the side of the freezer were frozen but the center we not but cold. So i guess my question is are they still good to eat or did we do all this work for nothing?

How long had it been before you checked? Hours? Days? Were the birds cold or cool when you put them in the freezer or were they still warm?
